Letters to the Editor

WHAT GOOD FOR THE GOOSE.

December 22, 2011

To the Editor:

I am extremely pleased to see mention of the issues with asylum and refugee treatment within the US (“Administration One-Two Punch for Global Rights,” by Paul Schindler, Dec. 21-Jan. 3). This problem has been absent from reporting and appears to not be a focus for the main US LGBT groups.

As well as the problems you outline, I would add the brutal treatment of detainees, many of whom are fleeing repressive regimes.

Their treatment in American “immigration jails” actually matches some of the horrors in other countries which Clinton spoke out about.
