Bill T. Jones and Marlon James in Conversation

Description:

Choreographer, 2013 National Medal of Arts MacArthur Fellow, and New York Live Arts artistic director Bill T. Jones comes together with Marlon James, the Man Booker prize winner and author of “A Brief History of Seven Killings,” “John Crow’s Devil,” and most recently Black Leopard, Red Wolf.” Jones and James will discuss the function of writing in the instant communication of today’s social media world, how history informs or provokes James’ work, and the phantasmagorical elements that help shape it. The conversation will include consideration of the gay aesthetic in both men’s work and how live performance informs James’ creative process.
