A Valentine’s Gala Honoring Our Lady J, #BoysDanceToo
This year’s “Harmony,” an annual Valentine’s Day fundraiser for the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and the Youth Pride Chorus, will honor Our Lady J, the Emmy-nominated writer and producer currently writing for Ryan Murphy’s “Pose”; Robbie Fairchild, Sam Quinn, Travis Wall, Charlie Williams, and Alex D. Wong of the #BoysDanceToo movement, which emerged last summer when a “Good Morning America” hosts made light of the idea of young males studying dance; and James D. Matte and J. Christopher Beck for their longtime generous support of both choruses.
The evening will include dinner and cocktails along with live and silent auctions and entertainment by Broadway heartthrobs Sidney DuPont (“Beautiful”), Henry Gottfried (“Waitress”), Adam Hyndman (“Hadestown,” “Once on This Island”), Devin Ilaw (“Miss Saigon,” “Les Misérables”), and Vishal Vaidya (“Groundhog Day”). The Youth Pride Chorus and Tonewall, the Gay Men’s Chorus’ pop a cappella ensemble, will also perform.
The New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, comprised of 250 singers, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2020. New York City’s Youth Pride Chorus harnesses the power of the performing arts to engage lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight young people ages 13-22 as agents of change. Both choruses are managed by Big Apple Performing Arts.
