3 to 7 Sounds: New Music for Two Violins
NYC ensemble Du.0 (pronounced “du-point-oh”), an experimental violin duo that specializes in experimental contemporary and noise-based improvised music, performs newly commissioned works by Scott Wollschleger and Leah Asher, as well as works by Emily Praetorius and others. The violinists are Charlotte Munn-Wood and Aimée Niemanns. The program runs 70 minutes.
Formed in 2015, Du.0 seeks to continue the violin’s legacy into the 21st century by expanding beyond the traditional role and identity of the violinist. Whether through improvisation, graphic notation, or use of extra-violinistic sounds and instruments, the ensemble cultivates freedom and innovation in its artistic expression.
