BULLETIN: Abel Cedeno Sentenced to 14 Years
RICHARD HARBUS/ NEW YORK POST FOR THE POOL

Abel Cedeno, a bullied gay youth convicted of manslaughter in the 2017 stabbling death of his high school classmate Matthew McCree, was sentenced to 14 years in prison in a Bronx courthouse today. Cedeno has consistently maintained that he acted in self-defense when McCree and another youth, Ariane Laboy, attacked him in their classroom. Cedeno was denied youthful offender status in his sentencing, and also received eight years for the stabbing assault on Laboy. Those two sentences are to be served concurrently.

Gay City News will have a full report on what happened in the courtroom later today.
