PHOTO ESSAY BY DONNA ACETO | Following an afternoon Pride Festival along Park Slope’s Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn’s LGBT community and its allies took over the avenue again for the traditional evening Pride Parade on June 12. Despite occasional threats of rain, both the festival and parade, celebrating their 20th anniversary, drew big crowds and enjoyed good old-fashioned summer weather. The parade’s grand marshals were Queens City Councilmember Daniel Dromm, a founder of the Pride events in Brooklyn’s sister borough, Brooklyn State Supreme Court Justice Debra Silber, and the Griot Circle, a Brooklyn-based group that serves LGBTQ people of color as they age.
